The "ETHNIC EXPRESS" takes its name from the "Orient Express," a famous international express train that ran from Paris by way of Châlons, Strasbourg, Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, Ulm, Munich, Salzburg, Linz, Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest, and Beograd (Belgrade) to İstanbul (Constantinople) from 1883 until 1977.
Our theme dance is Orijent (pronounced O-ree-yent) of Serbian origin. It was originally a men's dance from the great heartland region of Šumadija, directly south and east of Beograd, Serbia in old Yugoslavia. It was taught to dancers in the United States by noted dance researcher and balkan folk dance instructor Dick Crum.
We have been folk dancing in Las Vegas, Nevada since 1978.
