The "ETHNIC EXPRESS" takes its name from the "Orient Express," a famous international express train that was in existence from 1883 until 1977.

The train ran from London by way of Calais, Châlons, Strasbourg, Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, Ulm, Munich, Salzburg, Linz, Vienna, Bratislava, and Budapest. One route then led from Budapest to Brasov, Bucharest (Bucaresti), Belgrade (Beograd), Costanta, and on İstanbul, whereas another route led from Bucharest to Belgrade and on to İstanbul. The Orient express was viable from 1883 until 1977.

Our theme dance is Orijent (pronounced OH-ree-yent) of Serbian origin. It was originally a men's dance from the great heartland region of Šumadija, directly south and east of Belgrade, Serbia in old Yugoslavia. It was taught to dancers in the United States by noted dance researcher and balkan folk dance instructor Dick Crum.

We have been folk dancing in Las Vegas, Nevada since 1978.
